Indev Consult supported Bellway in a bid for the highly contested site of the former Ruchill Hospital in Glasgow in 2019. Following Bellway Homes' successful acquisition as the winning bidder, Indev was appointed in 2021 to undertake comprehensive Civil and Structural designs for the challenging brownfield development. The project involved the design of 4 and 5-storey flats and approximately 400 residential units.
The site posed several challenges related to drainage connections, necessitating collaboration with British Waterways, and earthworks due to the steep topography and constrained boundaries. Additionally, the design required the retention of a listed hospital tower building at the centre of the site, subject to structural assessment.
This project was shortlisted as a finalist for the 2024 Scottish Home Awards.
